Day 20 - Jemez Mountains, Valles Caldera

Emma hanging out at "the ranch".

Our front courtyard - one could really get used to this indoor/ outdoor living.

The lower Rio Grande valley towards Bernalillo is still ablaze with autumn.

The Algodones Bottle Rocket, engineered to close the Bottle Rocket Gap with Los Alamos.

Grand trees line the Thunder Chicken Run.

The little Catholic church in San Ysidro gives comfort to travellers headed into the Jemez Mountains.

Little church - frontal drive by view. The doors are fabulous - and match the sky.

It's one of those crazy cloud days.

A Jemez River hangout for Emma.

Evidence persists of application of that "shovel ready" money.

We're back at the Valles Caldera in the Jemez Mountains - they open the gate on the weekends so you can get right intothe middle of things. Light and cloud much more spectacular today.

Getting ready for a walk in the Valles Caldera.

Rough tuffted grasses cover the landscape.

There are many, many kinds of poo in the Caldera. Or barf. Can't tell which, but this string is very furry.

It's really hard to believe this immense, beautiful meadow is actually a super-volcano.
